Moz is a service that no one asked for. A variant of the old Google “PageRank” engine ideologies where just like that system is bases your ‘domain authority’ off of an obscure pyramid scheme of “more important” domains to prove your worth. MOZ isn’t the first to try to ‘rank’ the internet. There was WOT (Website of Trust) which had it’s own issues with legalities. And of course there’s the Amazon Giant in the corner “Alexa” which quietly monitors everyone’s website traffic if you want them to or not.
Every piece of information is important. Yoast Disagrees!
I decided to write up a quick article/review about one of the plugins that we use here called “Yoast” or as the plugin delicately puts it “WordPress SEO”. In an arrogant fashion that there is only one SEO package out there and that’s it. For those who do not know what this plugin does. Yoastattempts to understand how search engines work. Yoast then passes down automated knowledge to the WordPress blogger on how to write up their documentation to make it more machine likable. Because of machines like your blog entry then you might stand a chance at a human actually seeing it. Crap, we’re living in a rather grim state of affairs but it’s true!
We would like to talk to you about the internet in general. Something which can be observed by simply looking at the address bar within your browser. The single most important tool of your browser as it tells you exactly where you are. By simply looking at where we are is when we can run the hypothesis as to where we are going. Our hypothesis may be a little bleak for some. If you are looking for happy news you may want to stop reading now. For everyone else then you may continue onward into the abyss.
The Directory Mozilla Open Source project ( DMOZ ) is now closed!
Standing tall for more than 19 years now the DMOZ has closed its doors to the internet. Source is WHOIS from January 2nd of 1999; To today where the announcement was made on their site March 17th, 2016. Also, there was two years where DMOZ/ODP was known as “Gnuhoo” which totals its 19-year existence. This news was discovered to us thanks to our broken links detection tool . WordPress users such as ourselves have this plugin installed. This hit us personally hard because of what the Open Directory Project stood for. Also, the simple fact that after many years that this very site was listed in the /Society/People/Furry/Personal Pages category of their site.
Welcome once again to Spam dissection episode #2. Where we deal with scammer and spammers. All of them going out of their way to get their website promoted in all of the wrong ways instead of legitimately coming at a blogger like a reasonable human being. From scammers to spammers this is the section of our site where we let them have a voice and answer their questions without giving them the credit they think they deserve by embedding links to their websites.
We just want to say that every real message we get on our contact forums and in no way would we openly mock messages in the public light. Many of the e-mails I will be presenting to you are blatant spam and chances are many other sites have received the same message. If you are a spammer which is somehow easily offended (does that even exist?) then you may want to stop reading right now. This article is a rant/vent article and should not be taken seriously. Read the FAQ if this is your first time on this site and you have further questions about the function of this site.
This time around we are going to be plugin reviewing; The very force that drives every WordPress site out on the internet. Instead of URL pointing you over to WordPress to show you each and every one of my entries thus far. We have taken all of the reviews and slammed them all in this posting. Understand the reviews stated here are only a reflection of the people that run this site and do not reflect the opinions of everyone in the entire WordPress community.
Read on if you won’t see the ranting diatribe that we call our opinion.
All of these God damned tracking cookies everywhere!
When you surf on just about any modern website you’ll quickly get your information handed off to third party sites which generates tracking cookies. A lot of these third party sites which generate tracking cookies are supposed to make life easier. Developers who want to incorporate modern website necessities such as fonts for typographic work. Analytic graphics for those who see where people are coming from and why. And finally third party plugins such as video or even website gaming. Many of these functions come virtually free or are they free?
Welcome one and all to the first episode of spam dissection where YOU yes the lucky reader get to read some of the everyday crap that comes into both my contact forms box as well as the replies on some of my more popular threads. These spammers and “SEO Geniuses” are desperately trying to use my website as a means of pimping things like Russian brides, drugs, knock-off Chinese clothing and other things you normally find on the dark-net. Anyone who has ever had a mailto: link. Or on the receiving end of a contact form is more than familiar as to what is coming next. Now replies with just web-links will be discarded as there is nothing much to really say about it.
