Start a blog? In this day and age? What the hell man?!?

Perhaps one of the three readers might be interested in our advice on how to start a blog. To learn from the mistakes/failures we’ve made so that you can be an even better blogger. Perhaps even some of the success that we’ve had too. It’s been now five and a half years since we opened this site and to this date, we couldn’t be happier with the majority of the decisions made here. So, instead of giving little bits of information like “download WordPress” this article is to approach all aspects of what it takes to be at least a proficient blogger.

We can’t say professional bloggers as that would involve making money. But proficient is the next best thing in our opinion. Let’s begin!

Plugin review: Yoast needs to stop linking itself.

Every piece of information is important. Yoast Disagrees!

I decided to write up a quick article/review about one of the plugins that we use here called “Yoast” or as the plugin delicately puts it “WordPress SEO”. In an arrogant fashion that there is only one SEO package out there and that’s it. For those who do not know what this plugin does. Yoast attempts to understand how search engines work. Yoast then passes down automated knowledge to the WordPress blogger on how to write up their documentation to make it more machine likable. Because of machines like your blog entry then you might stand a chance at a human actually seeing it. Crap, we’re living in a rather grim state of affairs but it’s true!

Diving into the realms of phishing or hacking.

Recently we received the following comment on one of the social networks:

I think your website is a phishing site!

Also, we have received a few E-Mails lately accusing us of being a phishing site and frankly we’re totally confused. Perhaps people are not sure what a phishing site is? Perhaps they’re just trolling hard? Regardless, let us go with the first scenario and break it down for the people out there. Also be sure to check out this FAQ which people can read for other basic questions as well.
