This article dives into your Ouya’s afterlife that now that you have loaded the Lineage OS your game console isn’t necessarily customized for that some settings may need to be played with to make the experiencing a little more acceptable for general use. We can’t go through every possible scenario as that would make a few-minute video turn into hours and hours of video and further drive this blogger down the path of insanity. Serial over Ethernet?

This article is going to go into the world of old-school and obscure. That was before we had the internet. Before we even had such a thing as an RJ-45 jack to network with. There were only two cost-effective ways of transferring data from one device to another during the ’80s and most of the ’90s. Parallel and Serial transfers. This allowed computers to make a very primitive ‘network’ of sorts by pairing multiple serial connectors together to effectively talk to a program such as a BBS (Bulletin Board System).

With the introduction of USB, the need for these types of adapters is greatly reduced over the years. The requirement of a serial port still arises from time to time whenever you are doing with older CNC Machinery, Thermal Printers, Solar power monitoring stations, Industrial PLCs, and most importantly to us hooking up to old machines like Commodores and Amigas to do file transfers. Maybe you want to hook your high-speed network up to a 56k modem so you can re-live the days of dial-up?

It seems a little masochistic to us but some people dig the whole “Nostalgia” theme. There you go! In this day and age where you can convert anything to anything, there surely must be an effective means of virtualization serial over Ethernet right?

When you surf on just about any modern website you’ll quickly get your information handed off to third party sites which generates tracking cookies. A lot of these third party sites which generate tracking cookies are supposed to make life easier. Developers who want to incorporate modern website necessities such as fonts for typographic work. Analytic graphics for those who see where people are coming from and why. And finally third party plugins such as video or even website gaming. Many of these functions come virtually free or are they free?

Netgear WNDR3700v2 7dbi antenna mod – nope!

I performed the Netgear WNDR3700v2 7dbi antenna mod and I got some bad news.

I decided that I was going to do some upgrades to my Netgear WNDR3700v2 router with a 7dbi antenna mod which I bought off of eBay. This blog entry is to post my findings for all as a warning that the days of adding bigger antennae to a balanced “N” router is over. At least without some serious re-soldering of pads and possibly some legit 5ghz antennas. Read more to see the brutal details.

Tor networks for those seeking privacy from the ever-creeping internet that seems to want to know about your privacy. And no, we’re not talking about the government/NSA. They have a hard enough time sending my taxes to the right mailbox. We’re mostly talking about corporate data farming. And how we fully support anything that keeps the browsing habits away from governments and corporations only interested in getting the most pay-click out of your site. Whenever you type something into a search engine and suddenly it responds with items that are local only to the area that is a company using your IP address location against you in the hopes that you’ll respond better to one of their ads. That in itself is manipulating the internet in some shitty marketing tactic. instead of opening the internet for the user.

Installing a Wireless Antenna mod on your Ouya Console!

The Ouya while it does have a Wireless-N chip the quality of reception has a lot to be desired for it’s wireless antenna. Consisting of a tiny block on the motherboard which behaves like a 3dbi antenna that one would expect on a Cel-Phone; The overall reception of wireless traffic coming into your Ouya especially at a distance is problematic. Initially, I did this mod in an attempt to alleviate Bluetooth lag on my Ouya joysticks as the chip-set that Ouya used carries both the Internet and Bluetooth traffic over the same wireless antenna. While it didn’t help with the Joystick reception. It did help considerably with wireless traffic.

I’ve made the decision to eject all social network outbound links to appear on every page of my website. This took some doing as I had to page through a lot of the Angular theme forums to ultimately find out Which CSS code controlled the very top section of my page. I had to modify my custom.css file which was found in the theme home directory underneath ./css and added the following lines.
