Ouya Support – Other troubleshooting issues.

Ouya Support Title

Welcome to Ouya Support time with S-Config!

I notice a lot of people come to my site for various support topics for the Ouya and I figured that I should make an article dealing with some of the Ouya Support in terms of troubleshooting issues that were simply too small to exist under one article. These are questions which pop up time and time again in forums as well as on reviewers that decide is a fatal flaw of the console. Just a kind note that your Ouya has a 1 year warranty from the time of your purchase to be sure to keep that sales receipt in case something catastrophic happens to it.

Ouya USB Speed Test – Partitions

Ouya USB Title

Testing the Ouya USB ports.

Ouya Console Back.Ouya USB is great really! It gives the Ouya extra space to store games, ROMs, pictures, practically everything that you would otherwise have problems with the confines of an estimated 3.2GB of free space that is on internal memory because the Android OS is taking up over half of the space! However, one of the annoyances that people do complain about is how long it takes to scan games.

A lot of this has to do with the quality of the USB thumb drive that you are using. But could it be something more? Could it be the way that our drive is formatted that is slowing down the Ouya? What I am talking about is partitioning your USB Drive to something other than the normality in order to attain stability and speed out from your Ouyas USB device.

PS3 Third Party a.k.a. The P3 Controller

Ouya vs. the P3 Knock Off Controller Title.

The PS3 (Playstation) Third Party P3 Controller.

For those who do not play much on eBay there was a lot of issues with purchasing controllers for the PlayStation 3 in regards to china making a ton of knock off controllers. These third-party or P3 controllers looked like a Sony PlayStation 3 controller except that if you ever picked one up and start pressing the buttons or pushing the analog stick around you know that there is something not quite right with them.

Xbox 360 Receiver – Manual Install.

Chinese Xbox wireless receiver title.

Manual installation of Xbox 360 Receiver Drivers.

There have been several complaints about the error in my blog stating that installing the Xbox 360 receiver drivers just by launching the executable does nothing or that users do not have a “Microsoft Controller” class that they are capable of choosing from. This addendum documentation is to provide a manual install of how to install the Xbox 360 receiver drivers without ever having to install them onto your computer.

Chinese Xbox 360 Wireless Receiver Driver setup

Chinese Xbox wireless receiver title.

Wireless Receiver for the Xbox 360 from China has arrived.

Wireless Receiver for my Xbox 360 controller (Sometimes referred to as a wireless dongle) from China is one of those tools that has become more and more relevant in the gaming industry with console ports and couch co-ops. Unlike other types of electronics from China; Where it was inferior or simply was nothing more than a piece of plastic or an identifier chip saying what it was but it did nothing at all. This adapter from china does work! But it needs the right drivers!

AirPlay on my Raspberry Pi

AirPlay on Raspberry Pi - Title.

AirPlay audio only on the Raspberry Pi

Airplay (or in previous revisions from apple this protocol was called “AirTunes”) audio is the ability to transmit audio from your smartphone device (The Apple I-phone does this natively and android users can actually download a plugin protocol for this) to another device which is hooked to a home stereo system. I know there are countless articles talking about how it’s done. But since this is my blog I sometimes use my blog as just a random dump on how I get things going so in case I forget with my countless other projects I don’t have to look for a particular site to show me how to get it working again. It’s just annoying to find a site that talks about it just to have it disappear on you. So! Without further delay, my short little guide on how it is done.

IBM SurePOS 4800-742 AP04 and Chemi-Con Capacitor fail.

IBM SurePOS Title

More IBM SurePOS hatred from a computer technician.

Another IBM product (which is now Toshibas nightmare), another capacitor fails. Unlike Dell and Samsung which moved away from the Chemi-con capacitors quickly after the lawsuits and disasters of PCs and servers dropping over dead in less than a year. IBM stayed the course and decided to make this capacitor the “Industry Standard” kinda like how industry standard for generating power is using a water wheel. Unlike my previous article I don’t think I have illustrated exactly WHY the capacitors blow apart so easily in these SurePOS units.

Ouya Review Header Image

This is a mirror of a review I did for Industrial Strength Gaming back in July. Part two will be available there shorty.

It’s important to start off the Ouya review with the two greatest questions the military asks of anyone or anything that appears in front their their eyes. Which to answer this call, we will discuss in a two part review. For those who want the TL:DR abridged version of the review I’ll give it to you straight up for this section.

“Pretty console, won’t turn off, crap OS, requires a credit card. But at least they kept their word. And it’s cheap. Part two coming soon! – S”

Ouya Support – Keyboards and Mice

Ouya Review Header Image

What about hooking up keyboards and mice to play on the Ouya?

Ouya Support - Keyboards and MiceThe android operating system that Ouya is based on supports keyboards and joysticks with your Ouya natively. In fact, it’s far easier to use the internal browser for Ouya to go online with a keyboard and browser then using the keypad interface with the Ouya joystick. As for better game operation there’s only one game that is known that works very well and this is provided that your Ouya is already rooted which is the quake and doom collections by progger10 which allows you to bind mouse and keyboard control to the game effectively playing games on your android device as if you were on a normal desktop PC.
