There have been several complaints about the error in my blog stating that installing the Xbox 360 receiver drivers just by launching the executable does nothing or that users do not have a “Microsoft Controller” class that they are capable of choosing from. This addendum documentation is to provide a manual install of how to install the Xbox 360 receiver drivers without ever having to install them onto your computer.
The wireless Receiver for my Xbox 360 controller (Sometimes referred to as a wireless dongle) from China is one of those tools that has become more and more relevant in the gaming industry with console ports and couch co-ops. Unlike other types of electronics from China; Where it was inferior or simply nothing more than a piece of plastic or an identifier chip saying what it was but it did nothing at all. This adapter from china does work! But it needs the right drivers!
When it comes to GameStick controllers; Ouya tries its best to determine as many third-party joysticks as possible and assign them to a player port in the android operating system. This is admirable of them to do as they could’ve easily locked everything down making it almost impossible to hook anything to your Ouya. But if you are able to link your GameStick controllers and pair it. It is connected! It’s just in a state as to what I like to refer to as “Player 0”
They work on the Ouya and other Android OS’s! However, there are some issues:
PS3 and the third party “P3” controllers operate a little differently when it comes to their blue-tooth enabling. The first thing you have to do with that model of controller that you hard-wire it into your Ouya (by “hard-wiring” I mean using your USB charging cable that you normally have hooked to your PS3 and hook it from your Joystick to the Ouyas USB Port). By hard-wiring it it breaks any pairing with another PS3 that could be in your house or perhaps a PS3 that is long since separated from the controller as you may have bought this online somewhere.
Note: Upon plugging the PS3 controllers into your Ouya, the Ouya will respectively disable the Bluetooth service on the console and you will lose connectivity with your Ouya Controller. This is perfectly normal! Just make sure that you can navigate around the menus with the wired connection.
Bluetooth lag is possible one of the most complained and criticized issues with the Ouya console. If you don’t have good joystick response time then your not a gaming console. Ouya could have done a slightly better job at giving the Bluetooth controllers a larger antenna on the inside as they have the room for it. I have heard some people stating that they have to tip the Ouya onto its side in order to get a better signal. If that is myth or not is to be debating, however tipping over your Ouya does not really hurt anything and if it works for you then good!
Well, I decided to get the gaming console that sounds like having sex with a crazed Canadian girl from the U.P. and reserved Ouya at the local Gamestop because my friend works there and it helps out with his numbers (If you guys know anyone at a GameStop and you want to make their jobs easier , reserve an odd-ball system like an Ouya).
StepMania love coming at you! This is a quasi blog and guide on how we got our dance pads to work well with StepMania thanks to the I-PAC. Just keep in mind that my solution is not the cheapest in the world. We were going for a solid solution when I moved my pads from PC to PC.
