Controller Pairing with the Ouya.

Ouya Support Title

Controller Pairing Issues:

Controller Pairing issues can happen if for some reason pairing between the Ouya was lost due to factory defaulting your console or possibly the controller had its battery left out for a while. It can even happen to other environmental factors such as a laptop with a actively sniffing Bluetooth chip taking control of the joystick! Sometimes its to simply break the pairing with one Ouya so you can move it over or another.

Uninstall Cyanogen and restore Ouya Firmware.

Uninstall Cyanogen - Title

Uninstall Cyanogen from your Ouya.

Uninstall Cyanogen (sometimes referred to at CM11) and restore our Ouya back to factory using the full firmware load in the ClockWorkMod Recovery menu.

There can be many reasons why you would want to restore the factory firmware onto your Ouya ranging from company actually getting off their ass and updating new software updates which makes the Ouya usable once again such as an Android OS update. To simply restoring stock because of the many bugs and glitches in Cyanogen that you simply cannot tolerate anymore. This my I have published a blog on how to install Cyanogen it is only fitting that I also publish a blog about how to remove Cyanogen as well.

Cyanogen Mod CM11 and the Ouya.

Ouya to Cyanogen - Title

Cyanogen mod the Ouya.

Why Cyanogen Mod (sometimes refered to at CM11) you ask? The future of Ouya and the news of the most recent acquisition of the company to Razer has made a lot of Ouya owners such as myself feel rather uneasy with the consoles business as a whole. Couple this with an aging OS to the point where some favorite applications such as Kodi no longer work under android 4.1 due to programming issues. Razer is now stating that they will keep the Ouya servers up for another year. But then what? I guess they pull the plug and tell console owners such as myself to buy the next latest/greatest razer box. To which I will probably laugh and buy an Nvidia shield if I were to ever get an android box again. But that’s not the point of this blog entry.

Wireless Antenna mod for the Ouya

Ouya Wireless Adapter Modification title

Installing a Wireless Antenna mod on your Ouya Console!

The Ouya while it does have a Wireless-N chip the quality of reception has a lot to be desired for it’s wireless antenna. Consisting of a tiny block on the motherboard which behaves like a 3dbi antenna that one would expect on a Cel-Phone; The overall reception of wireless traffic coming into your Ouya especially at a distance is problematic. Initially, I did this mod in an attempt to alleviate Bluetooth lag on my Ouya joysticks as the chip-set that Ouya used carries both the Internet and Bluetooth traffic over the same wireless antenna. While it didn’t help with the Joystick reception. It did help considerably with wireless traffic.

Root my Ouya - App not installed.

RootMyOuya is now archived.

12/28/2014 – Since the Chickcharney update of Ouya the RootMyOuya.1.1.apk is no longer usable. After further investigation with trying to install this program manually and checking the logcat files. It appears that due to the updates the Ouya corperation has deemed that this package is no longer signed. I shall still keep the APK up on my site for archival reasons. But when it comes to newer Ouya’s updated past 11/3/2014. If you have installed the RootMyOuya.1.1.apk prior to Chickcharney like I did you probably will not notice anything until you attempt to re-install this apk.

Ouya Support – Other troubleshooting issues.

Ouya Support Title

Welcome to Ouya Support time with S-Config!

I notice a lot of people come to my site for various support topics for the Ouya and I figured that I should make an article dealing with some of the Ouya Support in terms of troubleshooting issues that were simply too small to exist under one article. These are questions which pop up time and time again in forums as well as on reviewers that decide is a fatal flaw of the console. Just a kind note that your Ouya has a 1 year warranty from the time of your purchase to be sure to keep that sales receipt in case something catastrophic happens to it.

Ouya USB Speed Test – Partitions

Ouya USB Title

Testing the Ouya USB ports.

Ouya Console Back.Ouya USB is great really! It gives the Ouya extra space to store games, ROMs, pictures, practically everything that you would otherwise have problems within the confines of estimated 3.2GB of free space that is on internal memory because the Android OS is taking up over half of the space! However, one of the annoyances that people do complain about is how long it takes to scan games. A lot of this has to do with the quality of the USB thumb drive that you are using. But could it be something more? Could it be the way that our drive is formatted that is slowing down the Ouya? What I am talking about is partitioning your USB Drive to something other then the normality in order to attain stability and speed out from your Ouyas USB device.
